VoxeLibre* is a free (as in "freedom") game inspired by Minecraft. It's based on the Minetest game engine, and written in Lua.

* formerly known as MineClone2

To install VoxeLibre and play offline:
- start Minetest and select the "Content" tab in the main menu
- click on "Browse online content" and search for "VoxeLibre"
- click the green [+] button and wait for the download to complete
- click "Back to main menu" and select the "Start game" tab
- click the VoxeLibre logo and click "New" to create a new world

To play VoxeLibre online, it is not required for you to install the game because all assets and mods will be automatically downloaded and cached on your device:
- start Minetest and select the "Join Game" tab in the main menu
- write "voxelibre" in the search bar to look for servers advertising VoxeLibre or MineClone2
- select a server, and choose a name+password to Register
- hint: some servers accept empty passwords; you can add a password later, while connected to the server: press Esc and click "Change password"

Our #servers channel lists cool servers that run VoxeLibre.

Gameplay:

You start in a randomly-generated world made entirely of cubes. You can explore and dig and build almost every block to create new structures. In "survival mode" you play against monsters and hunger, by fighting, mining, farming, building machines, etc. In "creative mode" you can build almost anything instantly.

The game is currently in beta stage. It is playable, but not yet feature-complete. While generally expected, backwards compatibility is not fully guaranteed and updating your world might cause small bugs. If you want to use the git version of VoxeLibre in production, consider using the master branch. We make a best effort to keep this branch relatively stable for servers.

Have fun! :)
