Across Orlais, peace balances on a delicate hairpin. Empress Celene attempts to re-cement her hold on the throne, whilst ambitious Dukes and Lords vie for power, both in their own lands and each other. In the city of Avives, situated in a delicate central position between the capital, Montsimmard, and Verchiel, life continues as usual for the most part. The rumors of elves disappearing into the forests, leaving the Dales and the alienages, are taken with a pinch of salt, as the common man and woman simply look to survive.
The Duke of Verchiel and the Duchess of Montsimmard eye the land of the Dales nearest their territories, ones that border and even encroach on Avives’ land. The situation is delicate, and eventually, Avives will need to pick a side, assert itself to its neighbors, or risk assimilation.
