World-spanning empires have scattered and disappeared. In their wake, successor-kings proclaim loudly to the world their blood-right to past glories, but in these dark ages those warlords cannot compare to the majesty and sophistication of the old times. The Fall left continents shattered, displacing millions from their ancient homelands and burying even more.
