Welcome to the Land of the Sun, the last bastion of humanity against the ever-present threat of the Devourers. You are a shinobi: a soldier of immense power, capable of dealing death to these fiends of the night; a proud member of your clan, bringing honor to your ancestors; and a noble warrior, a protector of the defenseless.
At least, that's how it used to be.
For the past 150 years, the sun has hung suspended in the sky above the land, providing limited safety from the beasts of underground darkness. In that time, civilizations have sprung up and the population has skyrocketed, giving rise to cities and cultures that would have remained impossible without the sun's omnipresent rays.
But it's not in humanity's nature to be at peace. Something must give.

The Sixfold Path takes place over a massive world filled to the brim with locations to rediscover and secrets to learn. Why are the Devourers eternal in their onslaught? What lies beyond the map?

To the west lies Reimeigakure no Sato, the Village Hidden by Dawn. It is a village of honor — or so it seems. To the east lies Yuyamigakure no Sato, the Village Hidden by Dusk. It is a village of status — or so it seems. Will you uncover their secrets, or will you work to preserve them?

All characters begin as a fresh Shinobi Academy graduate, and all characters are able to progress to the maximum possible rank. While the highest ranks are filled by NPCs to begin with, it is our hope (and expectation!) for player-made characters to soon sit in those seats.

Out of our preference, the Sixfold Path uses a stat system designed around benchmarks, so as to keep the focus of the roleplay on story progression more than hard numbers. The mechanics of the Sixfold Path are as simple as they need to be, but some are unavoidably complex.
