After the government of Nir began enforcing strict anti-magic laws, the worship of gods — now known as Fiends — became outlawed, and the artifacts of old became lost to the wilderness of the unknown.
What few Fiend-worshippers remained became criminals. Deviants. Pirates, searching for their lost treasures. Across the world, piracy became widespread: for fame, fortune, and most importantly — to revolt!
