The Wicked Lands were never supposed to be wicked...long story short...
The two kings that ruled over their people were polar opposites. A monster had the heart of a human, and the human king had the heart of a monster.
Explaining the lore in short terms will be hard, so make sure to pay attention...unless you want the flood to take you away.
Those two kings created wars and ruined each other's lives, but it all came to an end when the king of humans destroyed the family of the royal monster. So, they made a deal. They would have to fight for victory, and for the freedom of the monsters. But if the "ghost" king lost, him and his people would bow their heads to the wicked and twisted human king.
Unfortunately, the ghost had lost, and the skies above raged with wrath. In revenge, the gods above stroke the human king right in the head with a single silent thunder, before they'd sent a horrible flood coming their way. Most specimen retreated, trying to find shelter, but oh well...
The sea creatures took is as an advantage, the sky specimen being seen as prey, and the land creatures almost became inexistent.
The water rose for 5 years straight, destroying almost everything in its path. Not many survived, but it seems like your oc did....
