After the defeat of the nightwalkers in 302 AC, Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow (Aegon Targaryen) took the throne. They faced an extended summer after the Long Night followed by a fiercer and long winter than ever before. Daenerys and Aegon sent their last dragon, Drogon, south to save people and show goodwill after the complaints of the dragon eating all the stockpiles of food.
During a 62-year-long winter, Daenerys and Jon passed away, and their son Jaehaerys became a peaceful king. His son, Vaelys took control of the throne after his father's death. Vaelys allowed other religions to be practiced in the realm, much to the upset and displeasure of some. In the Reach, House Hightower rose to power and formed the Faith Militant in protest.
Winter had ended, and the Hightowers, with support from other houses, marched on the Crownlands in a crusade-like siege. Vaelys sent his family to Dragonstone for safety as the great crusade of the Andals began.
Our story begins with Vaelys defending the keep's walls against the massive army while waiting for his allies to gather. A war of religions is being fought, alongside the ruthless effects of spring now causing devastating flooding across the lands, among other burdens caused by the long winter.
Will the Hightowers be successful in restoring Westeros with the faith? Or will the Targaryens ensure their power is never questioned again?
