But of course, nothing in life can be so simple. In this day in age, good and evil reign upon society and clash against each other for control. 24 years ago, metahumans were declared accepted into normal society, and since September 11th 2001, the country has been the turf for a catastrophic showdown. The righteous organization, DELTA, fulfills their goal of protecting the innocent and proving the true valor and worth of metahumankind to the world. The heroes, better known as Guardians, devote their lives to the purpose of bettering the world and keeping the peace that some seem bent on destroying. On the other side are those who have decided to use their devastating abilities to serve themselves and make life whatever they want it to be, earning the title of Villains within society, otherwise known as SCORCH. Those who join SCORCH consist of several diverse individuals, even the out-lawed magic wielders who, if caught, will immediately be sent to execution. The US government, seeing the value and necessity of Guardians in the world—and especially, its own borders—followed up the creation of DELTA with the launch of a special project. This project led to the creation of the Onyx Academy, an institution where students would be trained by the best instructors to become the Guardians of tomorrow.
