Long in the future, as the final frontier is conquered by humans, the order of civilisation is spread thin. The united human empire has long grown from its early days of conquest, and now sits docile as an aging nation. As its strength declined, the first planets to go into turmoil were the outer planets, those who had most recently been conquered and settled with the technology of humans. The lowest of the low scum scrambled to the edges, hoping to be able to live out their fantasies and live of the edge, outside of the rules and order of the humans.
In this world, one planet thrived in the new space created by the receding of the human empire, a sandy planet called thyarae. It was rich in rare elements, a result of the bi solar system it was born in.
Being such a valuable planet, the humans decided to send out their military to protect the planet from the various free loaders of the outer planets, and thus in a sea of thieves a small planet thrived.
However, it soon ran into some problems.
There was not enough man power to mine the rare elements, and raiders were constantly attacking the planet for its resources.
And thus fort devastar was born
Sitting atop the largest mine into the planets thick crust, and giving a place to keep the raiders who constantly were on the offensive, it solved both major problems the planet had.
The fort captured the criminals of the outlands and put them to work, mining and providing for their fellow inmates. Though still quite new, the first inmates were already arriving.
