On the eve of 1988—the end of the Reagan years, the stirrings of the fall of the Soviet Union, when President George HW Bush said, "Read my lips," and Rick Astley first sang, "Never Gonna Give You Up"—Heaven and Hell closed its doors to any creature that was neither a Prince of Heaven nor a Prince of Hell nor a soul entering eternity.

Since, angels and demons wandered the earth more than they usually did, not permitted to return to their realms of origin. No one has seen God except for Lord of Heaven, Lucifer and no one has seen Satan except for the Lord of Hell, Miasma. The celestial and infernal realms are going on 35 years of chaos, but the Princes of Heaven and Princes of Hell are doing their best to keep things running smoothly, mostly by not telling each other what is going on.

However, to everyone else, nothing is amiss. The city is modernized with all the amenities a supernatural creature could need. Hook up, find love, forget your past, become someone new. Welcome to New York, it's been waiting for you.
