It is 12 years after the Battle of Yavin and nearly 8 years have passed since the death of Emperor Palpatine, Lord Vader and the destruction of the Second Death Star. Though pockets of Imperial forces remain, the New Republic is the dominant government in the galaxy. Several attempts have been made by the Empire to resurrect itself: Admiral Zsinji, Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ysanne Isard, to name a few.
