The year is 400 AC and King Stannis II sits the Iron Throne in the line of his grandsire, King Stannis I of house Baratheon, he who defeated the dead, who liberated the North, broke the usurpers who coveted his throne and ushered in a peace along with the gradual shift of the realm's worship to his Red God. Having smashed the bastard Tommen Hill and the false Aegon and his Golden Company, King Stannis reigned for thirty three years in peace until passing from the mortal plane and yielding his iron seat to his son, King Steffon I Baratheon. Whilst king Steffon's rule was not so momentous or glorious as his sire, he oversaw the submission of the Iron Islands, as well as the cementing of his father's peace, however when the King joined his father in the hereafter, his crop of myriad sons had been reduced only to his youngest boy, a child of nine summers. King Stannis II's realm is governed by a council of regents, and across the realm many scent opportunity and ponder old grudges and ambitions.
