"Taking place in summer of 2018, the Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu Technical schools are holding their annual Exchange Event ! The two schools' first, second and third years all get to participate in various battles with each other, trying to see which school will come out on top. Though, during the battling, the Disaster Curses and their allied Curse Users broke onto school grounds, trapping the students inside and separating them from the teachers via a barrier.
During all the violence and chaos, Mahito snuck into the secret doors and pathways underneath the school. He had originally gone down to steal 6 of Sukuna's Fingers as well as Death Painting Wombs 1-3. But, as he was exiting, the door didn't shut. Suddenly, aboveground, doors began opening all over the plae, spewing foreign Cursed Energy and then.. People. Familiar yet total strangers all in the same, were tossed into the forest along with the (Canon) students. The barrier had been released already, the fights over.
