Four years after the Oblivion Crisis, Tamriel once more finds itself wrapped in the dancing flames of strife and turmoil.
Having already lost Morrowind and Alinor to independence movements, Chancellor Ocato, in spite of efforts to maintain the Empire, has fallen to an Elder Council led noble revolt, his throat cut by an Alinori assassin in its final moments.
The crumbling Empire finds itself plagued by chaos, as rebels, warlords, and ambitious schemes erupt across Tamriel, yet others do not lay idle. Refugees from the ruins of Orsinium seek a new home in Craglorn, Skyrim finds itself split in two as the east shuns the warmongering of the west, and Black Marsh finds itself in turmoil over Imperial settlers within the new province of Argonia.
Those provinces that have won their independence find themselves carried on a wave of nationalistic fervor, as the young and ambitious of Morrowind look to the future and the increasingly influential Thalmor in Alinor pull most of Valenwood and Pellitine into the Aldmeri Dominion. Still, the Dominion's bold moves have not gone without opposition in Arenthia and even within their own lands, and time will tell with whom fractured and rebellious Anequina will place its future.
Whether an adventurer chooses to fan the flames of crisis, or hopes to merely avoid getting burned, Tamriel has much to offer any with the will to take it.
